Taliban Flog woman in Faryab

Kabul, Dec 21 (Afghanistan Women’s Voice)- The Taliban’s court announced in a statement that local officials of the group in Faryab publicly flogged a woman accused of “running away from home.”
According to the Taliban court’s statement, the primary court of Pashtun Kot district in Faryab province on Saturday sentenced the accused woman to one year in prison and 39 lashes.
This is the second instance this week in which the terrorist group subjected citizens to summary trials and corporal punishment.
Meanwhile, statistics indicate that in the past month, the Taliban’s Department of Promotion of Vice and Virtue detained and imprisoned 44 individuals, including 6 women.
The Taliban have increased arbitrary arrests amid a rise in protests against the group.
Protesters have consistently criticized the Taliban’s misogynistic decrees, summary trials, and corporal punishments, stating that the group is enforcing harsh interpretations of Islamic law on the country’s citizens.
