Taliban Officials Reassign Female Teachers to Remote Areas

Local sources in Lal wa Sarjangal district report that Taliban education officials have transferred female teachers from schools near their homes to remote and difficult-to-access locations.

According to these sources, the move is intended to pressure women into leaving their jobs. Once reassigned to distant areas, many are unable to continue working and are eventually dismissed.

Reports also indicate that key administrative positions in the district are now held by Taliban members, many of whom lack familiarity with the local language, culture, and geography.

Lal wa Sarjangal, located in Ghor province, is one of the most populated and geographically vast districts. Before the Taliban came to power, thousands of students—especially girls—regularly participated in the national university entrance exam held in Ghor province.

Since the ban on girls’ education, the number of participants in these exams has dropped significantly.
